Editor's LetterDear Saints, We greet you in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus! As I write this it is mid-August and HOT! In Southern Pines we have just finished a 3-day stretch of high temperatures in the 106-108 range (41-42 celsius). That is seriously hot for here. It gives us a small taste of what it must be like to live in a hotter climate than that—without air-conditioning! Truly we have nothing to complain about. This issue concludes the two-part article on the subject, "What About Genesis?" As I wrote in part one, I went for years believing that it didn't matter what we believed about the Genesis creation account so long as we believed that "God did it." But it does matter. We surely can't leave ourselves in the position of having to tell our kids to just "shut up and believe the Bible and don't ask questions." They are constantly exposed to a barrage of references to the claims of science that appear to contradict God's word and they have honest questions. Thank God, there are good answers. In the first place, doesn't it seem strange that the typical reaction by Christians to science's claims about our origins and the age of the earth is to question—or at least to re-interpret—Genesis? What we should be doing is to stand upon God's word and rigorously question the science involved. This article exposes the true foundation of science's claims about the past and also gives a number of examples to show just how unreliable their anti-biblical claims really are. In July we had a wonderful "Kids' Camp" with participation from all our churches and several visitors from the area as well. Once again our ladies went "above and beyond" in their efforts to ensure the success of the camp. They designed from the ground up a program for kids from tots to teens including a great closing play. The theme was the from the life of Moses. What a wonderful spirit of love and unity prevailed! We thank God and pray that our younger ones will be more and more grounded in the Lord. Labor Day weekend is drawing near and we are looking forward again to our Youth Camp in Lexington, South Carolina. Pray also for this opportunity that the Lord will save and establish all who come according to the need. I remind everyone once again that Bro. Jimmy Robbins and I are scheduled to travel to the Philippines on September 18, Lord willing, for 3 weeks of ministry. The "aggressive" schedule I mentioned in the last issue has become even more aggressive! We surely need the Lord as we ourselves are nothing. Our only desire is to impart whatever He gives. We will have the opportunity to impact literally hundreds of ministers at various conferences but also a number of others as well in different meetings. Please pray! And now, until the next issue may God richly bless you... Your brother in Christ, |
