Editor's LetterDear Saints, We greet you in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus! We apologize once again for being a little behind on our publication schedule. I believe you will agree, however, that the wait was worth it. In this issue we introduce the first teaching article by Ben Johnson, one of our younger men. I hope you will join us in prayer for the younger generation. If the Lord tarries His coming they are the future of this work and it is our desire that the Lord will always be the active Head of the work and that we will operate only at His direction. Ben's article, "The God of This World," gives us a biblical look at the enemy of our souls, the devil, and his kingdom. As Ben says, "God desires for us to know and understand our enemy so that we can overcome Satan's schemes and serve our Lord in this world and be the lights that He has intended us to be." No amount of wishing on our part will change the fact that, in the providence of God, we Christians live in enemy territory and are called, with God's help, to stand steadfast in the face of anything that would try to hinder us from serving God and glorifying Him in the midst of a sin-darkened world. The second article is a reprint of the transcript of a wonderful message preached by Bro. Thomas in 1974 entitled, "Our Great High Priest." In it the Lord through Bro. Thomas painted a wonderful picture of what Jesus Christ, our great high priest, has done and is doing for us. The knowledge of the great finished work of Christ should give every believer rest in their souls. How terrible it would be if our salvation were somehow "up to us" and depended upon our abilities to serve God! Instead, we are called to abandon all self-trust and to place our whole trust in that finished work and in the ability of God's appointed high priest to save us completely. Heb. 7:25. The way this world is going I don't know how much longer we will have opportunity to preach this great message. Surely night is coming when no man can work. But the Lord is on the throne and at present we rejoice in every opportunity He has given us. The broadcasts continue to go around the world and we simply send them forth in faith, trusting that He will accomplish His full purpose thereby. Since the last issue we have had our November meeting here in Southern Pines and it was much blessed of the Lord. Once again, Bobbie and Dottie Abrina were able to be here from the Philippines and we enjoyed their presence and contributions in ministering. Pray for these and other precious brothers and sisters as they continue to minister in their various fields of service. Even at this late hour there is a harvest to gather and we need to pray that the Lord will send forth laborers into His harvest. We see ongoing evidence of the Lord working greatly in the lives of the people in our churches and all glory goes to the Lord! Pray for us as we pray for our brothers and sisters around the world. And now, until the next issue may God richly bless you... Your brother in Christ, |
