    Dear Saints,

Well, summer is over—at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere! Cooler weather is coming on and soon it will again be winter, then spring, and so on. It reminds us of God's promise to Noah after the flood in Genesis 8:22, "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." Man has a definite responsibility as a steward of the world God has given us, and he has certainly corrupted it in many ways, but it is God alone who will destroy it—and that by fire—on a day He has appointed. In spite of the widespread of alarmism about earth's environment I believe God's promise. It is the coming of Christ and God's promised judgment that ought to concern men.

God continues to bless in our churches and He alone gets the glory. We deserve nothing. Our only claim upon Him is based on His mercy, His love, and His promise. How wonderful He is, particularly as we become honest about ourselves and our need!

The main article this issue begins a series on "God's Chosen People." I hope you will read it with an open heart and mind, looking to God for His witness. There is much tradition in this area and I believe that Satan has worked mightily to obscure the simplicity of biblical truth. It is our desire to show who God's chosen people are, tracing them through history, into the present, and on into their eternal destiny. May God give us all a greater vision and understanding of His eternal purpose and our place in it.

"The Coming of Christ" is an article written by Bro. C. Parker Thomas some 25 years ago. The subject of Christ's coming has long been close to the heart of this ministry and its burden. Of course Christ and Him crucified is always the center and foundation of everything but His promised coming is our sure hope as we look into the future.

"The Glory of God" is an article by Bro. Mike McInnis who shares short articles by email as he feels led. It is a wonderful article that puts the focus where it needs to be and also is a wonderful complement to some things I was led to write in part one of "God's Chosen People."

"The Mystery of Iniquity," though written almost 40 years ago, is more relevant than ever. This truth enables us to look at our present world through biblical glasses and make sense of it. Man has been, from the beginning, in rebellion against his Creator and this rebellion is headed for a climax that will ultimately be crushed by the coming of Christ. But the rebellion that will be expressed at the end is not a new thing. It has always been with us, though restrained.

The month of November promises some wonderful opportunities. First of all, Lord willing, Bro. Jimmy Robbins and I will be returning to the Philippines for a couple of weeks of ministry. As always we keenly feel our inadequacy and greatly covet your prayers that God will work to accomplish His purposes in the trip in spite of us. No one needs to hear from us. We need God's word for each occasion and His anointing to minister it so that it will be life-changing.

We also are looking forward once again to our November (or Thanksgiving) Meeting, Nov. 26-29 here in Southern Pines. I hope you will prayerfully consider joining us, but certainly we ask that you would pray that God would move and get all the glory.

    Your brother in Christ,
    Phil Enlow
