Editor's Letter

Beloved in Christ:

This leaves us walking by faith but is there any other way to walk or serve God? We walk by faith, we overcome by faith, and we die in faith. As the Apostle says in Hebrews 11:13, "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." I am glad that God doesn’t forget us and am also glad that it is not dependent on my faithfulness but his. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews ll:6. If you are living by what you see and what you do, you are in trouble. You can never do enough and you certainly can’t get good enough to be saved.

The sovereignty of God is a great thing. We need to realize that God draws us to him by his grace and likewise, he keeps us by his grace. We didn’t choose God. He chose us and God has never made a mistake. "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain...." John 15:16. We can say like Paul in Philippians 1:6, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." I am glad that my salvation was initiated and is kept by the Lord himself. Jesus said in John 10:27-29, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand." We need to learn that we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave himself for us. Galations 2:20. Our life is not dependent on what we have or do. It is dependent on what Christ did for us on the cross.

May God bless you and give you grace to realize that you are in his hands and he has never lost the first one. May he bless you and encourage your heart.

Your unworthy servant,
C. Parker Thomas
