Midnight Cry Messenger

Volume XL: Number 3 -- July-August-September 1995

Editor's Letter

Beloved in Christ:

This issue of the paper leaves us with many things to pray about. Praise God. When we run out of things to pray about, we will cease to serve any purpose in this world. Of all the things that I can think of, prayer is the one thing that Satan fights the hardest.

To the Romans, Paul said, "... without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers." Romans 1:9. We learn quickly, how weak our flesh is when it comes to prayer. We use excuse after excuse to keep from praying; and we accept these excuses as legitimate reasons for not praying.

The only way we can and will pray effectually is to make prayer our first priority. One of the first things we have to learn is we must take time to pray whether we feel like it or not. We must take time to pray whether we have anything specific to pray about or not.

The truth is that we don't know how nor what to pray about. Romans 8:26 says, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

Through prayer we draw nigh to God and He communes with us. Many times it is during prayer that the Lord speaks to us. This is one of the great reasons we need to know the Word. The greater knowledge we have of the Word, the greater capacity we have for the Lord to speak to us. As I think back over the years and remember the times the Lord has spoken to me, there are two characteristic things that come to mind. Almost without exception, the Lord speaks to me when I am in prayer; secondly, God speaks to me through His Word.

What greater wisdom is there than God's eternal Word? However, we soon learn that much of the Word has to be opened or revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. For example, years ago I experienced a great disappointment. I drove out into the countryside to pray and without realizing it, I asked the Lord "Lord, why did this happen to me?" Immediately the words came to me, "... Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm." I knew that this was scripture, but I couldn't remember where it was found. I found the scripture in Jeremiah 17:5 by looking it up in my concordance.

After I read the whole context in Jeremiah 17:5-10, the Lord showed me that I had ignorantly been trusting in man. Needless to say, this was the beginning of my deliverance from a religious system that actually puts people in bondage through tradition and falsehood. We have literally thousands of denominations, cults, sects, splits, and splinter groups, all claiming they go by what the Bible teaches. Yet the Bible tells us, "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:4-6. If the Spirit of God is the author of all this, God sure is in a state of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33. One verse of scripture, John 7:17, would straighten us out if we truly willed to do the will of God. Most people , when they get concerned about God, go to their church to find out what they need to know. The Bible doesn't say to look unto the Baptist, the Presbyterian or the Pentecostal and be saved. It says "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:22.

Beloved, remember us in prayer. This word is going out in an ever increasing circle like a rock thrown into a placid pool of water. We praise God for this. I could not have visualized what God is doing in a million years. God is using the videos in an unusual way.

May God bless you and let's keep looking up. Our redemption is closer than we think. I don't have any videos to tell you what to do in the event that you miss the rapture. It will all be over when Jesus comes.

Your unworthy servant,
C. Parker Thomas

Letters to the Editor

Beloved in Christ,

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I also pass greetings of my beloved wife in Christ who has also benefited from your ministry.

I have written to also thank you for sending to me the Midnight Cry Messenger and putting me on your regular mailing list plus messages on Tongues and two messages on cassettes. It's only the Lord that can fully see how these messages have opened our eyes to the great deception operating in the apostate church of today. Indeed these messages are meant for a small remnant of the elect.

I do thank the Lord who did show me a vision of people rejoicing in the ‘Lord’ in a pentecostal church, but the Lord showed me those who would go for rapture. It turned out to be a small number, not necessarily in the rejoicing group.

May the Lord of Mercy continue to pour His Grace on us. It may seem that in Kenya here, and particularly my town of Nakuru, that people are being converted in their thousands but only a few are really getting converted to Christ. Many are getting converted to a religion and being literally coerced to speak in tongues, the evidence kind.

Every Sunday people meet in built churches, cinema halls, schools and other places in genuine search for Christ. But deceiving spirits with deceiving teachings catch up with them. People are being conned to give to ‘anointed’ servants of God so as to get financial miracles. Some people are coming and claiming they have been given anointing by God to give poor Kenyans a financial breakthrough.

It's a terrible time we are living in as Paul told Timothy. I do thank the Almighty God that He has His sheep who are capable of hearing His voice today.

Do pass my regards to the whole church there. Encourage those who give for the sake of the ministry. Their sacrifice both materially and prayers have availed much. Their rewards are in heaven.

I do always remember you in my prayers.

If it is possible do mail to me some old issues of Midnight Cry Messengers (1970-1990 issues).

May the Lord Almighty take care of you and the church there as we await His soon coming at the last trumpet.

Your Brother-in-the-Lord,
J.W.K. (Kenya)

Dear Brother

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I happened to be fiddling with my radio when I came across your programme. Although I tuned in during the middle of your message what I heard had burned deep inside me. I had wished I tuned in much earlier on so that I could hear the whole programme.

Please send me literature on your messages if possible and have my name on your mailing list for the Midnight Cry Messenger.

I will be praying for your ministry. Until then may God richly bless you and your ministry.

Yours faithfully,
H.G.O. (Solomon Islands)

Dear Pastor Thomas:

For quite awhile now I've been watching your ministry service on cable channel 31 here in Kingman.

I've been a student of the Bible for almost fifty years and am appalled at what I'm hearing from the pulpits of many churches. Many of them must be reading from a different Bible than I do because most of what they preach I can't find in mine.

Most so called Christians today wouldn't know the power of God if they were in the midst of it.

I commend you for the message you are bringing and pray that the good Lord continues to bless you. If possible I would like a copy of your book Lying Signs and Wonders.

Yours in Christ,
J.R.J. (Kingman, Arizona)
